Postions:

Little Ranger Assistant Teacher

Volunteer Position 

Spring and Fall seasonal position

The main focus of this position will be to assist the Lead Teacher with Little Ranger nature-based education and programming (Ages 3-6). 

3 hour shifts (10am- 1pm) on Wednesdays and/ or Fridays. 

Qualifications:

  • Passionate about early education and working with children outdoors. 

  • Familiar or interested in nature play-based, emergent and/or inquiry-based education for young children

  • Are at least 18 years of age 

  • Have transportation to travel to multiple parks throughout Larimer County CO

Environmental Educator - 

$20/hour 

Part Time (Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons)

The Rugged Research Environmental Educator will teach our custom curriculum at elementary schools, Parks and Open Spaces along the Northern Front Range. Instructors are asked to promote Ecology, Environmental Science, Outdoor Education, Wildlife Conservation concepts with plenty of time for fun and games! Programs are designed for children ages 7-13, although not all instructors are required to teach all age groups. This role requires internal collaboration and communication with Rugged Research leadership as well as representing the Rugged Research organization to parents & children with professionalism and care.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Lead groups of up to 20 students through curriculum-guided activities

  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials in outdoor. environments 

  • Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures

  • Adequately prepare for each program by reading curriculum, watching training videos and/or participating in face-to-face training sessions

  • Encourage students & parents to enroll students in future Rugged Research programs

  • Participate in periodic Rugged Research training & staff meetings, as required

  • Develop engaging educational videos and web content featured on RR websites, social media and YouTube channels

  • Develop elementary school educational activities aligned to CO and NGSS standards

Qualifications:

  • Criminal and Child Clearances must be current

  • First Aid/CPR must be current

  • Experience/ Passion for working with children in a classroom or camp environment

  • Teaching, summer camp, or childcare experience  is highly recommended, pursuing a degree in education or sciences will also be considered

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

  • Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis

  • Familiar or interested in nature play-based, emergent and/or inquiry-based education for children ages 7-12.

  • Be flexible and adjust to changes quickly.

  • Have ability to handle concerns and issues in a constructive manner.

Programs:

  • Weekday after-school classes

  • Homeschool classes

  • Summer camps

  • In-school/out-of-school field trips

 

This position is part-time. Depending on candidate availability and the time of year, Instructors typically work between 1-10 hours per week.

 

Compensation: $20/hour

Rugged Research Intern

Volunteer Position

Rugged Research proudly partners with local universities and colleges in helping students complete their internship requirements. Our internship position offers a half year to full year program to help fulfill up to 180 hours of experience that will introduce students to what it's like teaching outdoor education as well as working with the program administration.
