One of our favorite activities to do with children is 'Make Your Own Fossils!"
Best part is- all you need is play-doh!
Simply take some play-doh on your next hike and smoosh it into anything you find that has a pattern- such as leafs, tree trunks, pine cones or anything your heart desires!
Once you get an imprint you can take turns guessing what you or your child just took an imprint from. You will see that some patterns imprint clearly- like leafs, and some are more complicated to recognize- like bark.
Once you're done making doh fossils, you can use your play doh to make nature faces with any items you just used!
